I have two 396-375 engines and it cost me $4k just to have one completely rebuilt at a reputable machine shop. If the engine doesn't need rebuilt and the parts are correct I would probably buy it. IMO if the guy says it has been rebuilt he should have some kind of paperwork to back that up...it seems you can't trust anyone on there word anymore....I would never put an engine in my car that I know nothing about without tearing it down first.

Owner of the engine now states 5500 since re-build. He has no paperwork, I'm following up to see if the guy he got it from has the work. Engine and car it came from is local.
