Deuces didn't even use an M22. All 4 speed cars were M21's.

Joe I know thats what all the records point to...but I can tell you this...the original owner of my Y Chevelle worked at V V Cooke Chevrolet in the service department as well as his father ...he said with absolute certainty the Chevelle came with an M 22 in it...but it actually was STOLEN out of the car and replaced with an M21.....weird but true story.Who knows...

My notes say that the Forest Green 4speed deuce from Kidder Knoefler Chev. in Sioux City, Iowa 'centerpunched a tree within weeks of purchase'. This car was the 38th car produced, and was stock number YS-023.

So, although the M22 part is surely false, the deuce into a tree part could be true!

I bet the guy actually has the car. Auction was closed yesterday.

Marlin it could be simply a case of the people that own the car don't know the difference between M21 & M-22 gears. I hope the car surfaces. Would be very cool to hear the story! ![]()
