I'd choose a Gobi Deuce over a FG Deuce,then & now.

First I have to say that there have been some REALLY good educational threads in the Yenko Chevrolet section of this board as of late started by Marlin, camarojoe, and others. Actually talking about supercars here has become a novel concept! Thanks guys!

I have a question about colors on 69 and 70 Yenko's. Why did Don choose not to do a Black Yenko? IMO they would look sinister in black. Next why did he leave out red on the 69 Camaro's? Red is timeless and I am sure would have been a good seller??

I'm not sure why he left black out in '68 and '69, but he did use garnet red in '69 for the Chevelles and Novas, then cranberry in '70 of course. He continued with red for the stinger vegas, and turbo Z's.

Don also didn't use white for the Camaros in '69 but did for the Chevelles, don't know why. After seeing John's '69 Douglass-Yenko Camaro at SCR7, it's a shame Yenko didn't order white - it's a knockout combo.

Personally, I like the Blue Deuces and the Rally Green 69 Yenko Nova but I'm not sure which 69 Camaro color I like the most.

I believe the color choices were just what Don happened to like, and what he thought would sell. I think he limited the colors just to make it easier to keep track of the cars for inventory purposes, etc. If you notice, he usually ordered a specific number in each color, rather than a random mix of colors and quantities of each color. Why he didn't chose certain colors is probably the same reason any of us wouldn't choose certain colors... personal preference. Speaking of which, I'll take FG over GB any day, thank you very much.

To my knowledge 3.

The one listed for Friedly Olds, IA is/was owned by Reggie Jackson. The one listed for Yenko Chevrolet was 'Junked' per PA-DOT in 1976. The one listed for W.R.Austin in CT is status-unknown, however it was bought new by a Henry Boyd of South Norwalk, CT.
