Default Re: 396, 427 & 454??

A 396 and a 427 have the same stroke and can use the same crank. A 427 and a 454 both have the same bore and can use the same block. If using a 454 crank in a 427 block the block needs to be notched a little so the crank will clear. 396s and 427 are internally balanced engines and the 454 is externally balanced. The flywheel and harmonic balancer off the 396 and 427 cannot be used on the 454 and the 454 ones cannot be used on the 396 and 427. If this info is not correct, someone please correct it.
