To add to what Mike said,on the TH400,that machined pad is behind/beneath the rubber boot that protects the shifter linkage.Usually the lead pipe is parallel to it,so you have to get behind it to notice it.

That's what we were thinking, but it's not there on Tommy K's new Deuce. However, it is stamped on the passenger side bellhousing flange above the dust cover! It's very light, but it's all there. The date code is exactly the same - to the day - as other a/t deuces. We have'nt had the opportunity to see where the VIN # was stamped until today.

On the 69 CX it is located directly behind the starter motor on the flange that the dust cover bolts to. The VIN is very light. From my conversations with Tommy K today his is in the same area on the 70 car..BKH

![]() Looks like the Willow Run boys stamped them in a different location, 'cause we were all over the driver's side of that thing on Sunday afternoon and couldn't find it!
