US 30 Drag Strip was the first place I ever watched drag racing. I remember begging my parents to take me when I was about 8yrs old. Was only about 15 min. from where my parents live.

September, 1972, my wife (then girlfriend) and I went to visit a friend of mine who was in the Army, stationed at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina. One night we all went to the drive in to see a movie and we were able to listen to WLS on the radio in his 69 Super Bee while watching the movie 50,000 watts of clear channel power goes a long way!
