Yeah, that Nova would kill today just as it is in the photos. It would be a refreshing diversion from all the nit-picking about matching numbers and originality. Dig that thing out and get it running.
Oh, and thanks guys for the discussion on "Day 2." I really didn't have any idea what it meant but after reading this thread I am definately a Day 2 fan. ![]() |

Yes, I have all those old Cragar catalogs too... I quit looking at them because I suddenly develop the urge to go out and try to find real-life examples of everything in the catalogs... Boxes of vintage mag wheels start taking up ALOT of room very quickly... I still remember the day SK Kid and I looked through some old Sun and SW catalogs and I decided it would be neat to get "1 or 2 NOS tachs to display"...careful, it gets addicting.

No, Pro Street is popular with the younger guns. Like Marlin says...Jegs and Summit can help you in Pro Street. Day 2 really just means making something good a little better. That is one reason why Wally Parks pushed Hot Rod magazine because it gave the aftermarket industry exposure. A real good day 2 car is great to look at and rewarding to the owner, but one has to achieve a high level of condition and originality before you put it in Day-2. Remember the cars did come purely original once! If you young guys need to look at these Day-2 items just get in touch with Joe Barr and his brother Erik and get your notebooks and camaras ready.

Sam, sounds like you've got a great understanding of what "Day 2" is all about. So what are those BFG's doing on your otherwise perfectly period Z/28?

AHHHHH ya caught me!
I will admit and will take the beating for it, that the car is easier on my old bones with them, than with the 775 skinnies and vintage L/60-15's on the rear. I guess I will have to jack the car up again! ![]() |

[ QUOTE ]
I think Day 2 cars done correctly are pretty cool, [/ QUOTE ] ...and deserve an awful lot of Respect today,as those "Day 2" parts are so Very difficult to find. I see "Day 2ing" as an owner just taking delivery of his New Machine, and going home to remove the SMOG components,if equipped,& other restrictive parts, then installing Headers,Cragars,Ladders,Thrusters,Tachometers and anything else that ends in ER. ![]() All done By HIM, in HIS Driveway/Garage. ![]() Just my "Day" .02 |
