The Letter I was indeed used in the casting dates of Tonawanda & Flint blocks from what I have seen.And also on page 68 of Colvins 1970-75 book, shows the letter I being used in a picture.
If you read the same Colvin book,page 73,it states for Block #3970010,"Some of these blocks have been verified with a December "M" month letter code.It is unknown why this was done".
