Somebody email Verne Frantz, that MOTION sign is in his hometown. Heightstown NJ is 30 miles from me if anyone wants me to look at it for them.

Yes Gentlemen,
I am the owner/seller of this sign. I had planned to post something this morning to let people know, but Rick beat me to it. I had emailed Rick last night to let him know it was coming up. I did that because Rick had posted a question quite a while ago about the possible existance of the (a) sign, and I participated in the discussion. I wanted to let Rick know that I wasn't playing games back then, when in fact I already had the sign. I didn't. I had only heard of where it was and had very little accurate descriptive info on it at the time. When I finally purchased the sign, I had every intention of keeping it, since it meant so much to me, so I kept it to myself. But I've realized I just don't have the proper space to have the sign come to life again to be enjoyed. I just hope it gets preserved properly. It stands for so much! I tried to take very good photos, but if anyone wants to travel and see it in person, that would be fine. Just PM me, and we'll coordinate a visit. Verne. |

In refererence to that picture that Verne just posted of the Motion shop. That sign was hung on the western wall of the bldg just above the "Cornbread..." sign. I believe it was there until the Wheel guys into the shop. I saw it personally many times in the colors that are on it now.

I pass the old "Motion" building all the time. Because, Sunrise Highway is a main drag here.
That "Motion" sign stayed on the building for a long time after the shop closed. When Joel Rosen lived on Long Island, we both lived in the same town and when I heard he was closing the shop for good, I was going to ask him if I can purchase the sign from him. I was surprised that neither Joel or an employee didn't remove it. ![]() |

I've got a black/white memory--so it's
to see the sign again--When Joel was getting ready to close down the store and move next door to the BMW(old Billy Mitchell VW shop) I would stop in from time to time and he still had old Motion packaged parts ,Motion ladder bars etc still on the racks. He would say Joe take what you need, I did take a few things I could use, but really didn't want to go thru the place with a nap-sack --I know someone had paid for the Motion Supercar Club sign in the shop--maybe $1k?- It was kinda sad--It officially meant the Motion Era was over------Real item------ |
