There was a comment when it wouldn't start to the effect that they had just rebuilt it...

[/ QUOTE ]

I thought they just cleaned it up. Remember they mentioned there was water in an intake port?

The wife sez this:
THE MOTOR IS 19-20 years old. It is a 455 big block Olds. It has less than 30K miles on it. It runs strong. If they blew the motor up, shouldnt we be the judge of that? It still fires up. They wanted to rebuild the original block but stealing the car from one place and ripping off the engine from another is a scene.

I don't know what she means by this, but that's her answer.

First of all, Overhaulin' is a cool show. Secondly, Foose has lost more talent than some of us will ever have. But I truly believe that what Foose has in mind might not be what the people are looking for. I think the 442 guy was being tipped off by his wife as to what was going on. I may be wrong (I tend to channel surf) on this but after the guy was freaking out about his car the wife started coaching Foose about things. She mentioned how much he liked the vinyl top and the bench seat and almost cringed when she saw them getting rid of both. The icing on the cake for me was when the guy noticed the Overhaulin' chick right off the bat. There hasn't been that many episodes for the guy to name her off the top of his head in 5 seconds. This is all just my opinion and I'm certainly not knocking Foose and his guys but I'll take the stock look any day of the week over a custom low-rider from the muscle car era. Can you guys imagine if they Overhauled your Yenko? I wouldn't want to miss that episode.

I watch that show religiously so maybe the owner of the 442 is a fan of the show too? I know if they ever overhauled my Mustang (please, please, please) I would know those guys, and girls, right off the bat too. Oh and I'm sure I'd love anything that Foose wanted to do to my car.
I've even gone so far as to print out application forms for the show and considered submitting them for my own car.

I agree with your thought that the wife tipped-off her husband. She is on the TLC boards- spouting off at every post -- so she's definitely got a big mouth.

I actually edited her post I put up here because she added a buncha CAPS as she was "yelling" at everyone. A woman like that does NOT keep secrets.

I think the guy knew, because he was so emotional when the car was reported stolen, but then his reaction to seeing Courtney was somewhat suddued. (Although if I met Courtney my reaction would be anything but subdued... )

I also agree that while Foose is fast becoming a legend, I prefer a completely stock a-body or f-body car over anything chopped, lowered or otherwise bastardized.

MAY I SPOUT SINCE I HAVE A BIG MOUTH??? Too bad, gonna anyhow.
FIRST Thanks for being so two faced. Saying I spout off on every post on that other website. OKAY, I WILL GIVE YOU THAT (yell, yell). Sorry, I didnt know all caps were yelling. Kinda lame if you ask me. I see you have posted WELL OVER 100 posts here. Hmmmmm... could it be? You like to chat when your bored? Why are you so bored? Are you only human? And social at that? I dont see the crime.

SECOND: My husband did not know. Is there anything you or anyone would like to ask me regarding this show? In case you didnt notice, I put up my dukes on that board when people bash the show. COULD IT BE BECAUSE I AM GRATEFUL? What a sin.

THIRD: Yes, my husband recognized Courtney. Because she introduced herself as COURTNEY HANSEN. He knew her as Courtney on the show and although that didnt register that very second, she pointed at the OVERHAULIN patch on her shirt which then made him realize. I told the producers not to use Chris or Courtney in any pranks because my husband would have recognized her for sure.

Lots more goes on that you dont know. They edit it and make it short. The two episode of the pranks at my neighbors house were about 20 minutes long each. Audio problems caused the lack of good footage. AGAIN... in the lobby where he was told he was Overhauled, they went rounds for a lot longer before Courtney came out. My husband was calling that guy host a FREAKING THIS AND AHOLE THAT when he left for longer then half a second in reality to go get his supervisor COURTNEY. AGAIN... audio problems caused lack of other footage. So it really looked chopped up.

The phone call to his best friend Brian appeared about 60 seconds. It was a 30 minute phone call with plenty of whining. I dont know why they was edited the way it was.

Yes, here I am again defending the show that changed our lives. I noticed you wrote some nice things but then I noticed you changed your tone. Is it a crime to talk and use a message board? Your here, your there (on the other msg board). Its apparent to me you like to chat to strangers also. WHOOPIE. I dont think we should burn in hell for it.

Sure I have a big mouth. Woman like me dont keep secrets. BUT KEEPING THIS ONE GAVE ME MAJOR ANXIETY. YES, MY BRAIN FORGOT TO SHUT IT DOWN AND I AM CURRENTLY ON ANXIETY MEDICATION because this whole experience was so overwhelming and way more then I THOUGHT I COULD HANDLE. Living a lie and keeping it from your spouse of almost 20 years (whom I share everything with) was not easy. Its still not easy. This has affected us both.

PEACE.

I watched the 442 epsidode of "Overhaulin' twice now and I apologize, but I don't remember your name.

Even when you apologize for not knowing about using CAPS, you are still using them.
Anyone who reads your posts will read into them as "angry" because of this over-use of caps, so of course, you're gonna come across as "spoutin' off".
In your posts here, and in your posts at TLC, you seem to be taking defensive posturing to the extreme, when there's no real need to do so. Most people seem very happy with the "442" epsisode and "Overhaulin" in general. BTW: If you re-read the TLC posts, I was the guy defending the show and Courtney... and your husband.

Sorry, but the use of caps is simple & elementary Internet protocol, Madam.

Anyway, understand that I certainly did not mean to offend, and I think your husband's car came out fantastic (as I mentioned on both boards).

So welcome to the Yenko boards... and if you want to come across as a calm, collected individual, simply drop all those caps. (You can use punctuation and emoticons to get your point across... calmly.)

Spoutin' back atcha,
Goat72

ALLCAPS... to me is like bolding the word. Emphasizing. Yelling maybe. But more like making things clear. Okay fine if its an internet manners thing. I'll give you that. Just keep one thing in mind when thinking of me... I have only gotten snotty with people who are being rude or who could possibly hurt someones feelings. I NEVER spoute off negative unless someone DOES IT FIRST. Maybe you dont have any feelings, but making a point can be done in a little more of a respectful way (yes this goes for me too). Some people just dont GET IT ya know. I just feel the world could use a FEW less rude folks. Starting with yourself. Bet you never thought Id stumble on to this board. My husband and I were reading what you were laying down last night just shaking our heads. People that dont even know us or what happened creating their own storyline. Amazing. I just needed to be heard. I wish you the happiest day and I am not here to be public enemy #1. Honest. You hurt my one feeling. (I dont have too many). But I am over now. Thanks for coming down to my level. We are all just human and its obvious we BOTH like to chit chat. NO CRIME THERE RIGHT????

LET ME GET MY POINT ACROSS WITH ICONS...

Have a great day

Lets see, how does some one refer to situations like this? "Train Wreck", thank God it's not over a Pontiac this time.

I believe what Chip was saying in the show was that "anybody can open a book and see a picture of a 68 Cutlass, but i want people to see this car and know that that was the car that was on overhaulin". I believe the engine guy did say in the episode that they dynoed the engine and were going to pump it up, so i belive there was some engine work done to it, but not a complete r&r. Also why do they call him "Foose", whats wrong with Chip, is it a marketing thing??

Canuckle,
I finally got a response from the guy's wife on the TLC boards. Here is what she said about the 442 engine:

I believe this is all they did under the hood...

new radiator, belts hoses, pump (basically cooling system replaced).
engine cleaned up, painted and compartment painted.
new and painted valve covers.
new air filter painted up.
new plug wires.
NOS system.
new ceramic coated dougs headers
new distributor.
new ignition box.
new optima battery.
freon was charged.
has a new alternator. something my husband did.
carburator the same, a good one recently rebuilt.
cam shaft stayed the same. sentimental purposes. my husband made it himself when he was a teen working at Howard Cams.

I may be forgetting something but I think this is all.

I'd guess Chip is called "FOOSE" because he wants his last name on the cars and those custom wheels he designs. You're right -- he's making a trademark out of his name.

Man, what a great job to have, huh? Designing tricked-out cars and having a shop with skilled tradesmen to pull it all off?
