A True L-88 hood that looks like that one, only came from Chevrolet on 68-69 vette's. They are a "short" hood. What you are looking at is the L-88 raised area on a 73-79 "long" hood. Note there is no wiper door like all '69's have.
Therefor it has to have been a aftermarket hood. Ecklers and others made them so that you could update the older 68-72 cars with a neat looking hood. One thing is for sure is that it did not come from Chevrolet on a factory L-88.

I know that... neither did it ever come from the factory on a Camaro. I just wouldn't call it simply an "Eckler's" hood...
Here's a [famous] Motion car... ![]()

Well all I can say is that both of my cars have a short hood eith the wiper door on them. The pic you show is of a 73-79 era Vette that came from the factory with a longer hood and no wiper door.
Here is a pic of a "Documented" '70 Baldwin Motion "GT" and you can see the hoods are not even the same...????

Pennington's '73 vette /Pantera's GT vette---both Motion cars/hoods----THE hood on the blue vette is different from any Motion hoods I've seen, which doesn't really mean anything, since it is a Nicely done Vette unless you are just trying identify the maker of the hood---This section is something I haven't seen on any Motion Vette--Anyone have any Photo's of an Eckler Hood?

Joe..! That is a good pic to show him why we feel this is not the correct hood.
You can see the gap at the top of the LF fender where the fender meets the windshield. In that pic of the blue car, it plainly shows it does not belong on the car originally. Originally there is a small SS/painted trim piece on 68-72 cars that the blue car is missing. You can clearly see the hood and the fender do not line up properly in the pic because it is missing. On 73-79 vettes the fender is made taller in that area and it continues the curvature of the back edge of the hood in the area where the trim piece would normally go. It should line up with the curve of the hood and end at the door. Also Joel did not build any of his cars with the stock chrome side mirror. He used the sleek looking for the time period Mustang GT mirrors on both sides.
