Jan of "Jan & Dean" Music hits of the '60 dies

The VH-1 "Behind the Music" on Jan and Dean showed Jan's completely totaled Corvette Stingray and it's a miracle he survived the '66 crash. He hit the back of a parked truck at an estimated speed of 100 mph. Anyone know if it was a big-block car? That'd be a helluva trivia question/answer.
