Spray-on tire chain option?

I think it's more like a sticky substance than a ice melter.I have some residue on a few cans of mine.The switch to trigger the spray is the same as a vaccum trunk release switch.The tire chain switch is moulded in red unlike the trunk release which is black.The spray was made by Dow Chemical.It was first in a promo package in early 69 with the Dow label than switched to the cans shown above for use in cars.The actual spray was sold and packaged under several brands such as Shell.I found a 69 Z with this option.This was one of two options on this particular car,the other was speed warning.Strange car....
