Boy, talk about prying the scab off of a wound.

You can clone anything you want and little can be done about it. Carroll Shelby did go to court over use of the Cobra name on all the kit cars but he couldn't really stop the kit companies. I think they might have to pay royalties but they can still sell Cobra kits.

I have heard that Mr. Rosen has a copyright on his paint schemes and the Motion name but you can clone one all day long, just don't call it a "Motion" car. And, in my humble opinion, there's nothing wrong with clones as long as you don't lie about it being a "real" car. I've been VERY tempted to clone my '67 Camaro SS 396 into a B-M car by putting a Stinger hood onit and 427 cross-flag emblems, etc., etc. Yes, there will be guys who get apoplectic over a clone car but who cares as long as you're up front about it. Oh, and accuracy helps. Don't put '69 Yenko stripes on a '67-'68 Camaro, okay?

The reason im asking is my Dad gave me a good amount of Motion parts i was thinking of putting in a 69 Chevelle now not to pass it off as a Real motion car but i would but the badges on it with all the other parts that would lead to beleive its what it apears to look like...I owned this car for years and have no intensions of selling it and if i did i would probably take out the Motion parts ..there getting really hard to find and sometimes almost impossable. so i can do right ahead and put the car together with no recourse

I believe Shelby has been winning his court cases and the Kit companys can no longer call them Cobras.

That supports my point that you can clone (or sell kits of) anything you want as long as you're careful about what you call it or what you claim it is.

Don't get me wrong, I'd have been just as angry as Shelby probably was about all the "Cobra" kit makers cashing in on Shelby's legacy. But you can't stop them, all you can do is watch them and make sure they don't trample any copyrights or patents, etc.

I took pictures of a couple parts My Dad gave me and from what he said there old orginal parts from his old Chevelle The emblems hesaid he took off the day he got the car and the hood came off a year later this was in the late sixtes early 70's
