Also from the Class of 84! Looks like we can finally afford some of those toys now!! (although I don't know if I can hang with you with the porsche's )
I agree with the idea of finding a great old car and restoring as much as you can with your kids. I own a computer company and working on these cars IS therapy! The guys on this site are very nice and some of the most knowledgeable you will find.

Remember the early 70 pontiac formulas? Dual scooped hoods, 50's in the back? Ahhhhhhh the choices are endless!

The mercury cougars are GREAT deals. I just picked up a num matching 428 Cougar Eliminator for around 5k (in need of resto).

As far as purchasing a car for under 50K, I would have to go with the 69 Camaro SS396 as an all time fav!
