How can you find out if it was one? I have a 67 396 chevelle but the tranny in it is not the original one. Is there a way I might be able to tell.

As far as paperwork,see if it is mentioned on the window sticker,or what suffix code is in Box 28 of the buildsheet it it has one.
Or look at the Trans. itself & see if there is the cars VIN# in it,& look for the Muncie Code that resembles:P9d08C-The C is for an M-22.
