Doing a Resto on a car is alot different than just driving the Cr*p out of one. I spend enough time just keeping them running. I already spend a bunch of time just working on what I have. Yes I could probably do just about everything except paint but I don't think I have the patience to do the research to make sure I get every detail right. I have a real appreciation for those Resto Guys that do put that extra effort in to get the little stuff right. So I could do the engine and have it painted but it would be a # 2 type car. This car at some point will get a correct resto so in essence the work I do would have to be repeated again anyway....I have had this discussion with myself before. Last one I did was a 63 Vette about a Year ago. Before that was a 65 Shelby GT 350 that I chose to send off for a Resto that has been going on for 2 Years....I dunno...I guess I just think this car is so neat that it deserves better than I would give it if I did it myself. Ask me again tomorrow and I might give you a different answer.

I think the Shelby will be finished by Summer. It is at the point where it is just a big puzzle that needs to be put back together. Almost all the parts are there and refinished, the car is painted, engine rebuilt etc...

I had soured on the GTO because of the severe body change in '73 (it turned into a battleship), so the Trans Am was the car I HAD to have. As soon as I had a fairly-decent full time job, I bought a brand new '75 T/A, and I would KILL to have an SD455 red Trans Am!! You are lucky, man! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ~GOAT72 |
