Not sure if the comment "congrats on your first e-bay feedback" is pointed toward me. Hope not. Though I post rarely, I visit often.
Another way of saying that would be as follows: "I am not the owner of the car nor associated with the owner in any way." I am, however, bidding on the car and was looking for help from anyone here who had an honest perspective. As a novice in this field (my father had a Yenko for a short period of time and sold it to my benefit) I was simply trying to see if there was a chance of authenticity on this car. My reasons for pursuing a car like this have been posted in a previous thread. Lastly, I really like this forum and greatly appreciate the the learning opportunities it provides. I apologize if I offended anyone with my question. Eli |

It was not directed towards you, Eli. I would pass on this car.I should have adressed my comment to maybe one of his other names.I know this thread has gotten a little confusing at times.

Here is my honest perspective on this car. The ad ěsounds interestingî because of the 140 speedo and his description of the spare hood but very careful investigation would be needed to determine if it is a real car. Many of the 1968 Yenko Camaros were COPO 9738 L78 (396) Camaros with 140 speedo that were converted and sold as 427 Camaros and some were sold as special 396 Camaros. I donít know if Dana had any of the 1968 COPO 9738 L78 (396) Camaros but could have. Any proof that it is really a 1968 427 COPO Camaro would be quite interesting. The statement that 68 427 Camaros were built in 1968 is in my opinion untrue. There is some indication that some 427 Camaros were built as there is paperwork showing EPA certification on them and Yenko advertised his 1968 427 Camaros as EPA certified. I have not seen any solid documentation that Yenko received any factory built 1968 427 COPO Camaros but may be a few were made. Since a 140 speedo could have been retrofitted in any 68 Camaro, you canít document the car on that one component alone. I would need to see the advertised documentation on this car for further investigation.

The fact that it has A/C kinda tells you it couldnt be a L-78. The person who won the car on the last auction said the guy couldnt come up with the paperwork. This could be why, 1. After he listed the car he started reading up on what his car may be and what it could be worth so he didnt want to sell the car at a measly 50K and simply blew off the high bidder by telling him there is no documentaion , or 2. He is BSing about all the documentaion and just loves to play with auctions and give E-Bay money. Or 3. The documentation will suddenly appear when the high bid is up in the stratosphere. If he does get more than 50k for this car and suddenly finds the documentation I think the first winning bidder would have a pretty nice lawsuite. I personally think the whole deal is
On another note, a guy here in jersey was selling a couple 427 camaros that started off as 6 cylinders but I cant remember if they were Motions or Danas, Im pretty sure they were danas and if they were what does all this mean Ill look for the ads and post it if I can find them.. From his new auction it sounds like it may be a car put together from a wrecked 69 COPO at best, since the rear and engine codes seem to be 69 according to the new auction(confusing auction to say the least). I'm not sure but the at the top of the new auction the owner seems to have entered the POP info, but doesn't mention it. This seems very deceiving and allows for deniability. Also, what is with the CX on the block, did he hear about a CX trans and think it was to be stamped on the block? Owner, if you are listening, I don't want any trim tag numbers, I just want to know if it is a magic mirror trim tag or not. Also can we get a picture of the back of the speedo. Was the car an original A/C car or was it converted(no heater box pic). If you want the money out of the car be nice and someone here will probably buy it. This is the place to come to sell a supercar and not get jacked around. By the way guys, I don't think any of these "owners" that have been posting have anything to do with the car. The posts are quite childish, unless the seller is a child, or at least acts like one. Has anyone received a email back for the real seller or talked to him on the phone. I have only received the form letter I posted earlier. I was a serious player on the car but it seems a little to slippery for me now. There are snakes in this grass, don't get bit!

"Has anyone received a email back for the real seller or talked to him on the phone.
I spoke with the seller (or someone stating they were the seller) yesterday. The call was in response to an e-mail I sent. I used the e-mail address in the ad, which is . Hope this helps. I think that I am supposed to close this e-mail by saying that someone sucks???? Eli |

JoeC, I believe that the paperwork showing the EPA certification for the 68 427 option was much later in the year than this car. This car is an early 68(Aug or Sep) so there's no way this car came with a 427 if the 427 certification occured later in the year. It sounds like this car has a complete 69 COPO drivetrain in it though. If it does, he should find the 69 partial VIN on the block near the oil filter area and try to locate that car. Makes me wonder if he has the window sticker and p-o-p of a 69 COPO that someone sold him in a 68 body!

Jeff,
Those were my thoughts exactly. I still think it is a cool car! Just might not be original |

Rear antenna with a spoiler is also a shy away sign for me too. Wonder is the build sheet shows spoiler. I guess now he'll have to make a new one.
