The VIN looks to be pretty early. Check with the COPO Connection website for the list of known VINS. Most of the COPO Chevelles were built pretty late in the production run. Ours was near the end of July. Yenkos could be considerably earlier.

Joe,

I was advised the car has a 427/425 motor which supposedly is matching number. Also, I was told it came from the factory with a 4.10 gear. Going to inspect the car this week. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

The COPO cars came with an KQ code rearend. The 396 cars came with a KK 4:10 rearend. The engine would be coded MP for an automatic and MQ for a four speed application.
