Didn't the LS7 have 077 aluminum heads? The one I bought from Indy a few years ago had 077 heads and a lowrise aluminum intake, 596 I think. The one in the add looks to have rusted iron heads, and I don't even see the usual SQ port hump on the front of the heads. Eric |

I think they came with cast iron heads. But, I'm not sure if they used the LS-6's 291s or the later service replacement open chamber "188" heads. |

69L72RS, I flipped thru one of my 70-71 engine books and it does say the LS-7 had aluminum/semi-hemi heads and a low-riser aluminum manifold. The title of the article is " The L/88 that can be lived with in the street".---JoeG Came across the LS-7 head part # 3946072 ---1969 design |

I asked the seller about the head issue, he replied that they could come both ways, alumunum or iron. I had always thought they had aluminum heads, I would do homework about this issue before I laid down the $$$$$ for this engine. Motown

Kloneco, Was the aluminum head still available then or did GM just offer the iron block on the later LS-7.--JoeG |
