If the Dealer is licensed with the DMV, they could run what is called a KSR. This is a direct link to the DMV that we use all the time but they are very strict on what we can do with that information. We would use it for when somebody trades in a car and we need to verify information about the car. We can verify that the person is the registered owner of the car, if the tags are current (additional fees would be due) or if it has a salvage title.
