Micky, alky right now, mainly because of added safety requiremnts, plus more stress on the engine with nitro. We have a "race " block which is a 510, with studs, o-ringed, all roller, alum heads and rods etc. The engine in it now was an extra we had, 402/375. We are checking on o-ringing it. Everything else looks OK. Just wanting to get used to the car before going too crazy. And hey, I am in the 7s, 1/8 mile though

Well Tom. What did you think would happen when you put another driver where a Harrell should be? Valerie wouldn't think of running with out Nitro.
Take the advice, put some good valve train parts in it.
In fact, the better motor could save you in the long run.
If that thing pitches a rod and oils the tires you could lose what you have. Same with all the screws in the injector. Those butterflies will move.
I have located 2 injectors like that car used to have. I am trying to by them.
We got Elaine talking the other nite about Dick's racing days and his cars. Almost couldn't shut her up. We just let her talk ... her memory backs up Dave Libby.

Yeah, but Val grew up around that stuff (nitro) . As per a Harrell driver, I guess I will have to try and coax Val to drive for me, or wait a few years for Michael to grow up. I still think Michael should be a natural, grandson son of "the Flying Dutchman" and Dick Harrell.

Glad to hear that Elaine is willing to talk about the past. I know there were some good times and some not so good times during that era, but we all know that time can heal a lot of wounds. I am sure this is good for Val as well, not to mention Michael, who seems to be at the age to start understanding just how important Dick was. It has been several years since I last visited with Elaine. I would love to spend some time with her and hear "her stories".

I think that the most fun part of my job (sYc), is when I get to spend time visiting with a member of one of the supercar families. Just this past week I have spoke with Hope Yenko, Helen Gibb and Joel Rosen, and of course emails with Valerie. WOW!
