Despite the way the shifter appears in the photo, it has the exact shape it should have. Although, they do have a reputation for being weak. At York last year, Jenkins' old crew told me they had to change the shifter in Dave's '62 all the time.
It is odd that he didn't mangle the shifter, since the engine received a Crower Super Stock cam in April '64, along with ported & polished heads (by Tony Fiel, then working for Van Iderstine) complete with Isky springs and aluminum retainers,..........and he did powershift the car. Wow, I can't believe your phone # was around after that many years & that his sister would even call it! You must have horseshoes where the sun don't shine to have that kind of luck!!
