I've owned Chevys all my life, but bought a new 2000 F350 Powerstroke crewcab dually because at the time Chevy did not have anything that could compete. I use it in my business, so I went with the 6 speed manual for reliability. It now has 65,000 miles and has not had any major problems other than a speed sensor in the rearend and a broken emergency brake cable. 17 mpg unloaded on the road, 7 to 10 mpg fully loaded pulling a 26ft. gooseneck running 70-80mph. on the highway.
