I think the '61 looks great from every angle. Make mine a 409 4spd

I think the 67 Trucks have it all over the later ones, especially the ones with the service small back window cabs. No side marker lights too! There are just a lot of neat things to the 67 that no other years had.
Also, can anyone tell me what the deal is with the GMC vs. Chevy rear suspensions of this vintage? I think it was GMC that had the leaf sprung rears, while chevy had the coils. Why make them different? Another item id difference is that 305 and 350 V6? I guess they were good if you have a blower on them, and they do kinda have 348.409 inspired valve covers- spark plugs through the intake manifold though. |

I beleive all the two wheel drive trucks had the coil rears? the leafs were for the 4-wheel units, we have a 72 Cheyenn Super, Custom Camper 4X4,with BB power and she looks factory installed.

You could get leaf springs on both the Chevys and GMCs, as I've owned 2 Chevrolets with them, both of them lwb, 1/2 ton, 2wd...1 was a CST and the other a Cheyenne Super. The GMCs most generally came with leafs, while the opposite was true on the Chevrolets.
I heard that the reason for the difference in rears was because the GMC was considered more of a work truck and needed the heavier rear, whereas the Chevy was more of an upscale truck...that may be reversed, or even incorrect, but that's what I've been told a couple of times. |
