I am going to try the white page angle online if I can figure out how to access the sight for San-Diego, I know a State Patrol up here, I will approach him, But I was told they track what the officers of the law do in the systems these days and they probably dont want to lose there job over a favor, That cant be exsplained easily to there boss, I dont think chasing information across county can be exsplained easily, I will get back if I find a angle that is helpful. I am waiting for belair to get back with me on how to hit the white pages,

Thnx for the info guys, Bud. I love this gears Guy!

Ron is right, I just got back a title search from Maryland, they actually give you too much info! They also relayed to me that there were two more titled owners on this particular car, but since I only paid for one - they only sent one. I just go to the individual state's DMV page, look for title info section, and download the proper form through Adobe Acrobat. I have found that mailing a personal check vs. a US postal money order provides better results.

Ron is right,

Hey, twice in less that a week that somebody said that! LOL

The last time was after another officer thought that he knew the traffic laws better than I. (yeah right) The Sgt. said "No, I think Ron's right" and I even showed them the statute to prove my point.

Now if I could get the judge to say those 3 words more often. LOL And yes you're right Marlin

Anybody from the Scottsdale Az, area or should I start a new thread with that as Subject?? will try this first, if you live down there and can photo copy the white pages and the surrounding areas I would be way grateful. I have a name of a fella from the area it may have been the orig owner of the car not sure, His name and add did not work when i called info, but she said there was that Last name in the area but was unlisted, pm me for the name. Oh called info after being online for two hours and hit the the guy in San-Diego on the first try, talked two his wife, and she confirmed they did own the car, but have not talked at him yet, will post up when i know more.

Marlin, how far back did Maryland go in your title search? Also, has anyone had any luck with Pennsylvania?

Denis;
I have seen MD searches go back to '69 and '70, my particular search went back to '76 - not sure what years the other two owners fall into.

PA will go back 10 years, unless you catch someone on a good day and they go into the microfiche for you. If so, I have several searches going back to '67-'70. The PA titles have 'brands' as well, very useful when the brand says that the car was sold 'out of state' or 'out of country', 'wrecked' 'flood' or 'stolen'. The best part is that the cost is only $5!

Within the last 2 years, I was able to trace my Yenko Camaro back to '69 through NY, NC and VA doing exactly what Marlin described in his earlier post. Found out my car came from Colonial Chev.

Ron, My Chevelle was sold brand new at Orville Nerhus Chevrolet in Lakefield MN per the buildsheet. I have been successful in tracking my car to 1976 thru Illinois, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Minnesota. I only got the MN title thru the South Datota search. Do you know of a way to get a Minnesota search done? I think when I called that the person told me that they only go back like 10 years. My car was in MN from new till 1989. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Charlie;
You left out the best part, how it ended up in New York painted rallye green with Z28 stripes! Then, after changing hands a couple of times, the sellers couldn't seem to figure out why the '302' emblems wouldn't fit into the holes in the hood, but those ratty old '427' emblems do - hmmmm... What a Homer Simpson!

When will it be done?
