Default Jan 2003 Chevy Rumble mag

Just thought I would throw some items out from the Mag that would be of interest to those here on the site. If any is repeated bear with me.

Hats off and Congrats to Dennis Cumby for his page 9 article on his orginal Owner LS6-- Awesome car glad its still with the orginal owner. Neat plate esp since its also your screen name here ORIGLS6

Page 10 shows an overhead shot of the Fred Gibb dealership.

Interesting article on the 65 Z16 Chevelles with some of the cars documentation. One paper showing order #01023 going to who else but Yenko Chevrolet out of PA. To the right of the dealers name is a code for Yenko Chevrolet is code 900 was that the dealers Zone code if so there are 19 other dealers listed on the page with codes for each. Would this make the Z16 out of Yenko a Super SuperCar??

On one page is states save approx 10-15 of the cars for VIP's in the likes of Dan Blocker/A.J.Foyt/Briggs Cunninham/amoung others and some of the different dealers who have shown an interest in in investing their time and mo9ney in high Performace cars.

Thanks Jeff. The old girl still brings a smile to my face every time I walk in the garage.

We were in the Gibb building yesterday for the New Years Eve Gala. Surprisingly, it has changed very little. The last time I remember being in the shop area, the Harrell F/C was sitting on the hauler near the back door. Lots of memories yesterday.

I heard recently that a large number (as many as 2/3) of the 200 Z-16's ended up with GM employees or "Priviledged" individuals. As Doug's article indicates, GM wanted these cars in the hands of people who could generate some exposure. Truth or fiction?
A friend of mine here in town had one ordered at a local dealership just South of me but it was never delivered. I guess he wasn't on the approved list. He finally settled on a 396 Impala SS which he still owns. Too bad he didn't get the Z. Sure would be nice to have one here in my backyard.

Dennis,
Speaking of bringing back memories and now that you are back in their family, why don't you ask them if you can put your car in their showroom one day this summer. Put your window sticker in the window, tie a balloon to the antenna and use white show polish in the window with the stock number. Then hang a sign form the mirror with a big "SOLD" on it. Take a picture of it for old times sake. Maybe Rick can even supply some old signage, posters and sales items.
Rick

Sure I would be happy too.Soooo many Ideas.(I'm holding my hands up to make a square like a Hollywood director). We star wipe to front of Dealership, then pan back to show area behind showroom.Window trim, wall boards, ceiling hangers,OK used car too.I should really story board this first. OK wait.We could do this up right...I have a 1969 Chevrolet Salesmens Polyester Dealership jacket too that Dennis could wear.Or wait.he would be better as the Virginal new car buyer. But we need to get him into a 1969 haircut first, meaning Shave that beard off....MakeUp! ....We may be able to get Jack Nicholson,or maybe get Dennis Hopper to play a disgruntled New Car Salesmen.Whats Peter Fonda doing these Days. Jack Nicholson would make a great disgruntled New Car Salesmen. " YOU WANT THE LS6? YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE LS6!!"

Rick,
We might be better off getting Joel Cumby to play the part of Dennis. It would be much easier than trying to cover up all that age.

You must admit, it would make for some neat pictures. Add some other original Gibb cars in the showroom as well and there you are. What do you think Dennis?

I'll make you a deal. You guys show up in LaHarpe on August 2nd and we'll see what we can get done. No problem with the car salesman though. Herbie is still in town! He's right back in the swing of things again as he was the one handing out the keys to the '02 Z's on Tuesday. World's No. 1 ZL-1 salesman!

As for the '70's haircut......there ain't enough left to cut!
