I really hate to go here but instead of trying to re-read that WHOLE post on the Douglass cars....I thought they ALL were striped with Yenko stripes...even the asterisk cars ....yes/no ?

Hi Belair,
I spoke to Ken about this. The early 70 picture he has of the car shows it without stripes. On Ed's site he does state that one car was to be delivered without stripes.

Clint is going to check in the door area (he thinks the doors are original, but not the fenders, of his car(now painted blue) to see if he sees any stripe remnants, but he didn't see any very easily as of late last night. He does have title history back to the original owner though so let's see what happens. I for one would like to hear from an original owner also! If he can get in touch with his original owner, I have a shot of maybe finding mine too? Do you think they knew each other? Two twin cars coming in at the same time on the same transporter? Let's see!

You might try checking the back of the hood. Many times extra striping was wrapped under the rear...BKH

Yes,they were all to have been striped, but for the one exception which has been found, which was Hugger Orange.

With the Estate Document count at 22 and Jack's count at 25-1=24 there could be a couple more which did not have the stripe kit, based on the info. we have to work with.

I received a welcomed call from Clint regarding his Douglass COPO*Yenko. He can correct me if the info. provided is incorrect regarding his car. I have not seen it.

The picture he told me about is Circa 1971 and the car had just come out of a body shop for repairs. It was hit in the rear quarter pannel area. There are no stripes/badges on the car in the picture.

The car was repainted complete at least once again thereafter. Color change to blue. The only "original paint" is what is left under the blue paint.

This is not a pristine survivor car and since we know that at least some of the panels/fenders had been changed as well as repainted and then color changed it would not be the best example to find any stripes on.

There were Yenkos from Douglass (plural) which soon had the stripes removed (very old post) to maintain a stealth sleeper appearance but we don't know if they were originally invoiced to Canonsberg or Hinsdale.

I too think it would be cool for Clint to find some difinitve info.as to how his car was sold to the public when new.
