Benny
You're right.
But for the record that was My quote, not Jim Mattisons.
I was referring to the records he is involved in,and how they will help this Hobby, once released.

The last I had heard was that Jim had not been given permission to do the project yet and it was still being discussed at a coporate level as to whether they want to do it in house or outsource it to Jim. Are you saying Jim was given the go ahead ? That would be good news if he was.

If it does happen, and I hope it does, what a show that will be! Imagine all those guys who have sold all those "original LS-6" cars all trying to run and hide at the same time. I predict a lot of shotgun shells will be sold the day after the #'s are announced. Maybe they will make a movie out of it "Revenge of the Re-Stamped Block", naturally in 3-D, HDTV, Surround Sound.

May be a good time to invest in small block chevy motors...If the GM records came out alot of big block owners will want to go back to original........dont think GM will want to start 50000 lawsuits, and they have nothing to gain by releasing them even IF they exist....

I don't think GM is going to make a decision to publish the information based on the amount of lawsuits that would be launched. It's not like they would be dragged into court over a fraud case. All they would do is supply factory information.

Any court cases would be for fraud and misrepresentation. These cases occur everyday between small cheesy car dealerships and individuals who bought these cars e.g.(speedometer tampering, hidden collision damage, etc.). You don't see GM, Ford and Chrysler being dragged into the courts over those do you?

Let's not forget, Jim already does this for Pontiac and GM of Canada does it. If lawsuits would be a reason for not doing it, Jim and GM Canada would have stopped giving out the information a long time ago.

I'm no left wing democrat, but a business that is so interwoven in our culture has a corporate responsibility - If you can prevent fraud and crime from occurring and make a few million doing it, why wouldn't you?

Here's a question to put to you guy's - How much would you pay to document your car(s)? I don't have a high dollar car (z/28) but I would pay $1,000 per vehicle no problem!
