Auto! Cool! All you need is a 3500 RPM stall-speed torque converter, and you will be in the mid-12's..
...is that a part you can change in Certified Stock? -Sam

Uhhh...no! Gotta be the stock converter. Early in the car's life we had a converter that was quite a bit looser, and it really liked it. But, with that said, the tighter converter helps negate some of the wheelspin.
I tried bringing it out from an idle and leaving off the converter, just run up to about 1,000rpm. I have felt the last 2 tracks couldn't take much more rpm than that. As for tires, yeah, they are bias-plys, but they are Polyglass tires. I think part of the problem may be the age of the tires...they are going on 6 years old. I tried hazing them and the full burnout treatment, and couldn't tell a lot of difference in 60' times. But, no better than my short times are, it's really not worth noting which technique is better. Thanks for the help, though, as any and all assistance is needed! |
