COPO's were not built with AC because they were supposed to be HIPO cars. AC would cause dramatic decrease in HP thus making it just another ordinary show car.

GM also didn't want to handle all the warranty claims from guys spinning the A/C compressors to 7,000 or 8,000 rpm. [img]/ubbthreads/images/icons/shocked.gif[/img]

They were incompatible options, GM did not like to install AC on solid lifter cars. They did on the 365 horse 64 and 65 Corvette and again with the 72 LT1 engine. The LT1 had a reduced red line to prevent damage to the AC compressor.
A high reving big block would tear one of these compressors up.
