He returns from slumber. Yep, they got the same as the Vette late in the year. Not that wimpy thing they put in the Z-16s. I think there's one in Hemmings this month.

Wasn't the L-78 rated at 425hp briefly in '65? Kind of like the L-72 being briefly rated at 450hp? Did ALL of them get this brief, yet higher rating, or just the 'Vettes?
Also, you mention the "wimpy" Z-16 engine (L-36? can't remember off hand)...I agree, and think that the L-78 was the REAL 396 to be had in '65. |
