This is the COPO which the owner states has an X66 Trim tag. The GM of Canada paperwork verifies the VIN as a COPO Camaro.
Has anyone seen this car in person or know the owner? I have asked for numbers and pictures of the tag and car several times but have not recieved any as of yet. |

Are you ready for another Canadian horror story! This COPO was a wrecked shell in a junk yard in Chatham Ontario. I beleive the person listing the car is the one who popped the tags from the car. The tags where then glued onto a new body. A second person purchased the "original" shell from the junk yard & applied for "lost title". The vehicle was the sold to an unsuspecting buyer in Ohio (no name to protect the Buyer) who is now aware that two people own the same car. I beleive the two of them are trying to work out a deal to make it one again. I will post the VIN later if anyone is interested. I also have the GM Of Canada printout. Low option car M22, Silver, black standard, am radio. Another reason for buyers beware!

So the car for sale is actually another 69 Camaro body with a different VIN stamped into it than what's on the title. This guy could be in real trouble if he doesn't get that straightened out.

While I haven't seen the COPO or pictures, I have inquired about the COPO.
The current owner stated that his COPO is not a rebody, and that the vin is original to the car as is the secondary vin under the Cowl. He stated that the big block heater box was never removed and therefore he never inspected that vin. It is strange that someone would go through the process of a rebody and put/leave the wrong trim tag on the car. Do the Canadian laws parallel the US laws when it comes to tampering with VINs? The vin number is N659193. When you publically advertise a car for sale the pertinent vin and trim tag info become Public Domain. |
