69rsss350--What's the point of your message? No one cares if you think its bogus or not. If you don't have anything constructive to add---stay away. Sorry guys but that rubbs me the wrong way.

The point of my message is that your story sounds highly suspicious as to authenticity. This is not (if it proves to be) the first example of this kind on discussion boards as to possible "treasures" found which are too good to be true...
Why did this guy call you? Did he think you were knowledgeable about these cars or did he think he might have a big fish on the line? If you have seen this car then post the VIN, cowl tag, rear end codes and casting numbers and engine and tranny codes and casting numbers. If this guy really thought he had a Nickey COPO why in the hell would he call YOU instead of someone who really knew the cars value and might have the capability of paying it? If you were trying to get a rise out of someone, it worked so either get real or get lost!

He called me because I put a wanted ad in the WI trader. What can someone do w/ the VIN anyway? None has come forward and said that anything can be done w/ these numbers. I'm not trying to "pull" something here, just looking for a little help in finding out if this is the real deal. So get off my back.

Here's the example of the availability of Nickey documentation. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1846904381
It is possible to determine the dealer that a car was shipped to by running the VIN through NICB. Feel free to post it and someone might check it for you.

I'm not sure I would reccomend posting the vin. Next thing you know 10 People have run the vin and are either knocking at the guys door or sneaking in the guys door. Just a word of caution. I know if I had this lead, I wouldn't post the vin or any contact info.

Be nice Mike. We're all just Chevy guys trying to help each other out the best we can. Our L78 Chevelle is a "found in a barn" story. I was as cynical as you until I got there. Some of these stories are actually true.......Really.
