This is the red "BILL MITCHELL " SR-2. Also a 56, and made with racing brakes and special engine. Its vin number is E56S102532, ten numbers after the blue Harley Earl car. There were three total cars, but the 3rd was only a 'show' car for GM Chairman, Harlow Curtis.

Bill Tower in Florida has the red car photoed here. It raced at SEBRING in 1957 and came in 15th OA. Drivers were Pete Lovely and Paul O'Shea. I saw Pete last March at the RIVERSIDE RACEWAY LEDGENDS weekend and talked to him about the race and the car. For years Pete, who is from Seattle, has raced his Ferrari Testa Rosa at Monterey Historics and other West Coast events. Everyone knows him with that car, and no one has ever recognized his racing achievements with Corvette.
