That VIN looks to be too early for the cowl hood so that probably isn't original to the car. What's the redline on the tach? Does it have dual exhaust and can you see the welded on reinforcement plate on the driver's side frame rail for the exhaust clamp? Any signs of stripes on the cowl or trunk area? How big is the radiator, 2 or 3 row core? These are some things to look for but the fact that someone removed the trim tag makes you wonder why and was a previous owner trying to build a clone and pass it off as original. Sounds like a good starting point for a project though. 3.73 12 bolt posi, PDB and tach are some nice options.

One simple test to help determine if it is a Z28 is to sit on the front bumper or subrame (if no motor) and try and bounce it. My other original '67 Z28 (not "Little Hoss") F41 suspension will not budge more than 1", it is verrrry stiff. I call this the F41 pucker test. Original Z stripes are hard to totally remove from a car, unless it has been frame off restored. Good luck, sounds like it will make a fun car.
