Frank;
I also use PPG black, but used DP90LF with some 402LF to make it set up real quick, but added some DT reducer so it wouldn't spray/lay like sandpaper. It took several attempts to get it the way I liked it. Also thought about using Gas Grill Paint.

The suede finish isn't just flat sheen, it also has texture.

Jerry MacNeish says:
You can still get the OEM suede paints mixed from any dealer that stocks and mixes laquer. The factory suede finish is very rough.

Dont know all the misc applications where GM used the SUEUDE additive in Laquer(only) but one conspicuous application (and most often redone incorrectly) is the 70-74 Z-28 wheels and 70-71 Chevelle SS.....For you above paint contributors, when you speak of PPG urathane, are using Del-Star ACRYLIC Urathane with a flattening and hardening agent or Del-Tron??????.......thanks, Chuck

KurtS;
The dash paint is rough, the PPG 402LF makes it set up rough like the factory finish. Keeps the glare out of the drivers eyes!

PPG makes an actual texture additive for the lacquer. I just had a pint miked up. It's not actually suede, it's the texture that gives it the anti-glare.
