Central Chevrolet in Fremont still exists. We actually had a car club meeting there a couple of years ago.
Here is a web link: http://www.centralchevy.com/ [Edited by bbdon (12-18-2001 at 10:07 AM).] |

Yup, that would be the dealer. They sold a few cars this color, at least one other L78 and a L35 (still original paint).
I'd be interested in a pic of the trim tag if you can. Else I have a few questions: 42L - the 4 has to be a letter. Is the - before or after the L244D? Is there a 4 digit code on the same line as the date code? Nicely optioned! Any documentation? Original drivetrain? That air cleaner and valve cover is real hard to find. Kurt S Thanks!

Thanks kurt you really know your cars here are the answers to those questions.
the 4 is a W the - is not on the tag I was trying to get all the letters to line up just as they appear on the tag and the computer wouldnt let me get off that line whithout putting somthing in that spot, turned out it all went on one line anyway. there is a C84 code in the upper right hand corner.I took two trips to storage and 10 pictures with the digital camera none of them turned out there is some black paint on the tag and there is no light. I have no documentation I want to try and find the origial owner and maybe get some pictures so I can start restoring the car. It has a 427 in it I need to figure out if that is how it came or where and when it was switched I will take any sugestions. |

We had a 68 RS Z28 a while back that had -- code and was this color. It appeared to be original paint on the car. I will post a pic if I can find one.

Thanks on the work order code (doesn't decode) and the W code.
I'm somewhat surprised that there isn't a - somewhere after the 4K code. Most special paint cars have it. The other 2 orange cars left with their original engines, I suspect this one did too. If you ever do get a pic of the tag, I'd still be interested. Or if you find the trans or axle codes. ![]() Jason, Do you have any other info on that Z? I know of 2 cars that are similar. One had a body colored rally wheel. Anyone seen that before?

This one also had a body color rally wheel for the spare in the trunk. It had torque thrust style wheels on it when we got it.
