Denis; Yes, I have it. It is as follows:
Thomas A. Stubbs, 43 Dalewood Rd., Clifton, NJ. Date of Issue:6 29 73. Here is the VIN 136379B404108, it's a Fathom Green with Dark Green Bucket/console, Tac/gages,F41,L72,M22,NC8....Pretty rare COPO, with all these options. It has been Certified by COPO Connecting, back in 1996.I would also like to know, how I can get this VIN run on NICB, to find out what dealer sold it New. NJ only keeps logs back, for 10 Years. Any help, would help to finish Docing this Rare COPO Chevelle....No, it's not for sale.. Thanks, for any info, MIKE ![]() |

There's only one Thomas Stubbs listed in all of NJ.
His address is a mere 12 miles from that given on your paperwork. Stubbs, Thomas 14 Marshall St Irvington NJ, USA 07111-8633 Phone: (973) 4161653 If it's the wrong guy, there are only two other possibilities listed in all of NJ. Stubbs, T 1008 Inland Rd Forked River NJ, USA 08731-5210 Phone: (609) 2429183 Stubbs, T 734 Stewart Ave Bridgeton NJ, USA 08302-3133 Phone: (856) 4511757 As a last resort, try calling all the neighbours. There's no current phone # listed for the original address, but here are three of the neighbours' numbers, including that of the house immediately across the street (this is a residential street just off the Garden State Parkway). Don't laugh -- I was able once to find a previous owner by calling a neighbour who not only remembered the car but knew where its owner had moved to: Costa, Rosangela 48 Dalewood Rd Clifton NJ, USA 07013-3402 Phone: (973) 7796761 Eusebio, M 44 Dalewood Rd Clifton NJ, USA 07013-3402 Phone: (973) 4726930 Obrien, K 47 Dalewood Rd Clifton NJ, USA 07013-3401 Phone: (973) 7780940 Can't help you with NCIB reports. If you find out how to get at 'em, let me know because I also have an undocumented 67 Z28 which I can't trace back beyond 1976. Good luck, and let us know how everything turns out. - Denis |

Thanks, and will let everyone know, how it turns out. Had a state trooper, that said he located him, but nothing since then. I'll check into these numbers, and post it. I know at least one neighbor remembers the car, but don't know which one, we'll see. Thanks Denis...regards, MIKE

The original owner's reaction was, "I have been waiting for this call a long time." He did not ask to buy the car back he just wants to see it when it is in his area.
The search for old owners can be very hard, I have about 250 hours in this search. All you need is a few pieces of the puzzle like A69COPO2 has, alot of paitence and some good help like I had on this websight. |

I very much, agree, the folks on this site, are very helpful and I enjoy posting info, if I can help. This car will get a full ground-up Restoration, as it deserves. I have run into brick walls, some of the previous owners, didn't want to help. I'll just keep looking under all the stones, until Mr. Stubbs and I talk. This car was never registerd, by a few owner, this makes it difficult. I'm just happy the 1973 title/ partial build sheet came with the car.
If their's some one out, that lives in Cliffon NJ area, that knows of a 1966-67 GTO running a BBC with a four speed, namely my 427. I would like the name of this owner and phone#. This is a rumor, that I'm also chasing. Car was drag raced and had some other parts installed, that through me off into another direction. I under stand that NICB, can direct me to the dealer that received this car, just don't know how to do this part, any help on this, would help alot. Thanks, again Denis, and I'll be calling these People today, will post as I find things out. MIKE ![]() |

Just last night, I hit the jackpot myself.
Using a name I pulled off a photocopy of a Polaroid of the P-O-P for my 67 Yenko, I contacted the original owner on the first attempt. As in turns out, the original owner lives 3-4 miles from the address listed on the P-O-P, near Madison WI. His name (Gregg spelled with two g's) made it easy to find him in the telephone listings. Total research time: about 30 minutes. What a blast! Prior to this phone call, I don't think we knew anything about the car before 1990. I got to confirm what kind of badging was used on the car (no YSC emblems, only the 427 badge on the fenders like in the Span Inc photo -- plus something on the hood he can't quite remember), the correct spare (Charley, you might be getting your SpaceSaver back ![]() So now I want to trace it forward from the original owner. He sold it a couple of years later to a local mechanic/racer who drag raced out of Union Grove in the early 70's. His nickname was "Coke Bottles" because of the thick glasses. Any of you 'old guys' remember who this might be? I'm thinking maybe it would be nice to reunite the original owner with the car at the SuperCar reunion, and maybe see if it still runs as hard as it used to. That'll give the trailer queens a conniption fit, don't you think? ![]() |
