Default Re: Heater Delete GM Canadian COPO?

The L78 Car was a LA car i believe No way it was a PI car, I have been trying to get over to The Big Island to take a look at one that is said to be one, and if it is with luck it will come home to Oahu. My mother-n-law (Filipino) remembers some of her friends did bring some of the Camaros back from the PI but just where they are now is anyones guess. Even have some of her family back in the PI looking for me. Ill try to get a pic of the 69's sticker and will send it out if it is listed as heater delete and will also post if its not listed.

Os with the PI Camaros some of the people there didnt even know they had some that were PI made.

go to the photo gallery and then to AHRA events and the blue Camaro is a PI built car not sure of the others. It is said that the burgandy car was left when US Forces left when the volcano blew up.

HawaiianCamaro,
It would be interesting to see that window sticker on where that car was shipped. Why do you think an LA car could not be a PI car?

Would the heater delete RPO show up on the window sticker? It would be an RPO, right?

If it was ordered by a Service Member that was stationed in the PI it might have been a LA car and shipped as heater delete. As for what i call a PI car is one that was shipped to the PI and then assembled at the PI plant. Service Members could arder cars and get them shipped free from the mainland thus not having to mess with a huge (sometimes 200%) importation tax. The PI/Spain/Greece and other coutries are well known for jacking up the taxes when they know you have money and in the PI service members then were making about what a local would make in a year in one weeks pay. These cars had their own VIN and Cowl tags and not the GM tags we all see day to day. CRG has more info and pics of the tags.

Is the car on the Big Island a Phillipenes or heater delete car? I may know of the car and may be able to give you an idea of the condition. I will check these parts cars for a build location as well.
