???what is going to catch on fire....? all i have in the air cleaner i have is the chrome bowl/base, two metal domed screens and one chrome ring separated in one spot. is there supposed to be more,....like say a filter element or something????

Yes there was some type of air filter in it.

The air filter is a black plastic affair that was about 1/2" thick. Looks like the stuffing froma furnance air filter. Most are destroyed or just fall apart from age/heat. My local furnace supply company has some stuff that is very close and may be fireproof.

thank all of you for all your help. My name is Trevor. i have a 1969 400 firebird with an L67 Ram Air IV. The motion style air cleaner i now have, spent its life on a 1969 Trans Am. Thank you for all your help folks, and i love the cars you all drive. Have a nice day, all, and keep tuning, cause i would hate to beat a yenko or motion in a street race. lol
