Default Re: What's a Yenko Tag Worth ?

Thanks Rat_Pack !

I was told, in the last year, by two Yenko experts that they were "impossible" to reproduce, and "Nobody" is able to do it.

I recieved a phone call from a person claiming to have located a car with this tag # on it. This person is contemplating on buying the car, and asked what the tag was worth to me?

The tag is #YS-100. I have not looked at this tag, or even know if it exists ? If it does exist, is it original ? or reproduced, or going to be reproduced, depending upon how much money it is worth to me ?

My car is fully documented with every paper from day one. I'm the third owner, and have met and talked to the previous 2 owners. My car is #YS-100. It has a YS tag of #YS-101 on it. My VIN is on GM documents listing all of the 100 1966 Corvairs that went to Yenko, from GM.

I believe the story that when the SCCA man went to Yenkos to count cars, Don only had 96 cars there. I also heard stories from people that worked at Yenko, at the time, that they were switching tags, and running the same cars around the building. Thus making it look like they had 100 cars there. I believe that my car getting #YS-101 tag on it, was a mistake made at Yenko. Yes, I believe that them working multiple shifts every day in Dec. '65, and only taking off one day, for Christmas, that it would be possible to make at least one mistake.

Anyways....... Now mysteriously after all these years, my original tag supposedly shows up on another car that is for sale.

I'm told how my car having #101 on it, cast shadows and devalues it. I feel it came from Don that way, and it is history. I'm happy the way that it is.

Thanks for the honest answer.

<edit> I forgot part of the story. This same person about a year ago, told me that he had car #YS-101 and paperwork for it. He wanted me to sell him my #YS-101 tag, as it was not right for my car. I said the only way I'd get rid of the tag that I had, was for the original #YS-100 tag.

Guess what he never even mentioned when he called the other day ? He never mentioned trading for #YS-101 tag, or even mentioned the YS-101 car at all. Hmmmmmm.......... Geez, I can't believe I posted all this on the internet. I guess you could tell that I'm not worried about burning any bridges.
