It would appear that the radio delete was added along the way with the other popular additions/subtractions discussed. The ZL/2 hood relay is in the incorrect location. The wing nut holding down the air clearner is funny. The 140 speedo is questionable. Also look at the tires? Incorrect for a 69. Code 61 is a bad boy color. I would agree with Rat Pack that this is the old KC Spurlock car. I have only seen two other BB COPO Camaros. It seems to be a rare color on any Camaro. Its no problem to build it like you want it to look. But when it comes time to sell, I would think it should be pointed out that some of the items are added. Most people would not even care...BKH

Anyone know at what assembly plant the Hawaii Camaros were built with the heater delete? Any paperwork on these cars?
On the chambered exhaust system - in the Jerry MacNeish book it states that in early 69 the standard ex system for Z/28 L78 L89 & L34 was the chambered exhaust system. Due to noise complaints, this was discontinued on Nov. 28, 1968 as the standard system but was still available as optional equipment. The chambered exhaust system was deleted from production on May 19, 1969, as a result of standardization of chrome tail pipes. |

If this burnished brown Camaro on Ebay has a body number of #155017, it would be the one that Rick Dyer of Mt Clemens, MI assembled back around 1990. There is a full write up on this car in Muscle Cars of the '60s/'70s, Sept/Oct '91 issue.
At the time of the photo shoot of this car, Rick told me, that in the magazine article it was going to have my name saying I authenticated it. Needless to say, but my name never showed up as he knew what the ramifications would be. If I recall the car sold before the article came out, and Rick moved on to something else. Warren |
