In 1968 the three best "shoes" were Guldstrand Bondurant and Yenko. All had extensive experience amd more importantly sucess with A prod FIA sports cars, Guldstrand and Yenko in Corvettes with Bondurant in Cobras. Yeah they also piloted the only Sting Ray to take on Le Mans. Guldstrand and Yenko also had great factory
( Duntov ) connections. Don may have sold great Camaros but he was a hell of a Corvette Driver. |

Don Yenko was known as a Corvette racer but in 1969 and 1970 he raced Camaros with Yenko sponsorship.
He won the 1969 Citrus 250 at Daytona in a 68 Z/28, ran a ZL1 powered 1969 Camaro at Sebring, ran six TransAm races in 1969 in a Z/28, and in 1970 ran a 427 Camaro at Daytona 24hr in GT/0 class was 28th overall 542 laps DNF. I am trying to find more info on the 1970 Daytona car. I was wondering if he ran the 69 ZL1 again or if he ran a 70 Camaro. All I found so far is the list of results on the race. |
