Joe,
The 9.997 second run was in NHRA's "Stock Eliminator" class. I have a video interview with "The Grump" and in the interview he said that he used a Can Am Block. Andrew ![]() |

Andrew:
I'm just now responding to this thread, but it didn't go unnoticed by me when it was originally posted. I don't guess it really sunk in what Bobby and his Camaro had accomplished until last night, while I was over at the SuperStock Forums chatting with some guys. Anyway, I was asking them about what class they felt the Deuces would have fallen in, when they asked if I was a racer. I told them I do occasionally, and after I told them I mostly race in a COPO Camaro, then they brought up Bobby and his ET. They said that the 427 Camaro is a pretty good combo, which means a LOT coming from hardcore racers. They did say that a 427 F**D and a 426 Mope ran "corrected" 9s not long before that, but they said that most racers feel that it's only a 9 if it's on the time slip. There some good reading on those forums, but it's pretty hardcore stuff, and gets pretty heated sometimes. |
