427/512??? Is that the range of cubic inches you may be running? Shame on you! You had us all believing you guys were straight shooters and only believed in "pure stock" Look here Caseys only been here a short time and he has already corrupted you!

I forgot that some of you "outcasts" were over here from Buick board! I should have been more specific...in '69 the COPOs generally used the block casting "512", which was a pre-cursor of things to come in '70, as it was notched for the longer throw of the 454 crank.

Funny thing, though...seems I keep getting emails about "stroking" this and that...I guess that sort of thing is popular with small block Olds engines...

So a 427 has a shorter stroke than a 454?

YES

A 427 has a 3.760" stroke, compared to the even 4" stroke of a 454. Same rod length, same bore.

OK then does a 427 have a taller piston? Or do they move the pin location? Or do all 427s just have 7 to 1 compression? LOL
