JoeC: yeah, it was a great race, to see these COPO's run into the 12 sec. range, but it's just a shame to see a rare Chevelle brake the Original rear end. But the other two COPO's did great. Wonder if Peter Got the rear end fixed...

Pete did get the rear fixed in the COPO Chevelle, lucky for him the center section broke rather than the axle tube with the numbers stamped into it!!
Jimmy Johnston was running the Chevelle for Pete the following year, (1998), at the Pure Stock drag race. It was the fastest mph car there that year at 108.31, and 13.161 et. It's qualifying time was 12.89! M
