No, the stripes were gone and the car was in primer. Fortunately they had taken some pics of at least the rear end stripes. Re: the split stripes, the Z28 cars just had the Motion stripe added/blended into the existing Z stripes. SS cars had the single stripe in the middle of the hood "bulge", over the top, and down the center of the deck lid , then flared out and down the side into the "spear". Mark Timken's green '70 is an SS. Bear in mind that this is the way it's been explained to me, but, Joel will also tell you that they had no templates, so, each might vary a bit. Anybody have any other opinions?

What year is this Motion Camaro? I beleive that most of the Phase III cars started out as factory big blocks but there was no big block or SS Camaro in 1973. I guess in 1973 Motion would have to use the Z28 or the LT to do his conversion (or whatever the customer ordered).

I believe the red one at the Chevy Vettefest was a '71. I'll need to look back through some of the old CARS magazine, but I recall reading about a '70+ 454 Phase III that started life as a mouse powered Z-28.

Mike;
That makes sense regarding the stripe differences on the Z28's vs. the SS cars, thanks. I will also try to dig out some old articles to see the stripe difference, M

Speaking of 'Ray', his old Yenko Nova has an interesting window decal - 'Maryland International Dragway'. Does anyone know where this track is/was located? Maybe it would help determine the original dealer, either Lustine Chev. in Hyattsville, MD or Colonial Chev. in Norfolk, VA.

Maryland International Raceway (MIR)would be closer to Lustine Chevrolet. Both are located in suburban MD outside of Wash. D.C.
