Most of us have done similar things. A recent example was at MCACN. I had my black RS/Z shipped and in the Sinister 69 display. I had to move my car, and two other cars to several locations during move in. When the actual display location was available couldn't locate my key although I was sure I put them on the drivers floor. Without the keys I couldn't move the car or have it transported back to FL. I'm pretty busy with Vintage Certification and thought perhaps they fell inside one of the cars I was inspecting. I checked my car at least 6 times and even contacted a friend who is a locksmith.

I checked a 7th time and found when I got out of the car quickly i pushed the rubber mat way forward along with the key. The transporters paper mat was what all I checked under. Once I removed the paper I saw the rubber mat and the key up under the pedals. I was relieved but pissed at my stupidity of rushing and not being careful. Lesson learned I think

MCACN 2016, My red SS was in Dan Vasic's Day 2 Invitational. Panic that the original keys were not in my pocket!!
Retraced my steps multiple times, searching all over. Second trip to the office, some kind soul had turned them it. Bless you where ever you are!!!

When I show my car,I always forget things or where I put them.
One time I locked my ignition & trunk key inside my Chevelle trunk,as well as locked both doors.
No second spare set @ home either.
I had to wait for the show to empty out, then hitch a ride back home to retrieve a slim-jim,my tool box and some portable lights.I brought it all back to the show field which was now completely empty,in a corn field and near midnight.I opened a door with the slim-jim,removed the back seat back, then used all of my socket extensions that I had @ that time to just barely reach into the trunk and un-bolt the bolts holding the trunk striker from inside the trunk. It worked, and since then before every show,I put a piece of two way tape inside my pants pocket, and then insert both the second back up ignition & trunk keys to that piece of two way tape, holding them tightly inside my pocket and holding the pocket closed.
..Never again.

Default Hide a key

I buy the small magnet boxes that hold a couple keys and place them around the rear taillight assembly or use a plastic wire tie to hang extra keys somewhere. Been doing this for years.

Well here is the damage. Sorry I'm moving slowly I've got my hands full! I will have it up and running soon! I Will pull the other head today and have them both looked at. The cam lobes, lifters all look in great shape. I'm hoping after the heads are done I just need rockers. I bag and tagged all the parts removed per cylinder and valve. I wish I was more meticulous the first time as I missed that cylinder when doing a compression test and treated the problem as a misfire and threw ignition parts at it, all while needlessly cranking and probably flooding the engine.

Dude, best case scenario! Could have gone so much worse. You will be back on the road in no time.

I've got 2 exhaust valves that look like that from my 427. No piston damage in mine. 2 new valves and some guide work and all was well again.
