Default 65 Tiger Gold GTO

These were special cars. The example GeeTO Tiger was part of a promotional contest and the winner prize. Out of 250,000 entries 19 yo Alex Lampone was the winner and took home the car. Very interesting history and wonder what the rest of the story is today!

I owned this car for a short period of time. Amazing car and great unrestored condition!

It ran and drove as good as it looks.

Idk if this qualifies as an article but it’s a little known Pontiac fact. My ram air IV SR block that was prepped by Stephens as a back up for my car, had these in it, so I asked the driver of the car. He told me they had special over the counter rods in 69 that were the same as earlier SD rods.
Many didn’t believe this for years but I’ve found a few incidences where they were mentioned. Here’s one example- so “in the know” stock and super stock racers mostly those in the performance division dealer network , would swap out the garbage cast rods and drop these in hoping the tech guys wouldn’t figure it out if the got torn down.of course all Pontiac rods are the same length so 421 and 400 rods are interchangeable

These were two reasons not to set records - one it could reset the index and two you didn’t want to get torn down ;-)

Default Posting up a ‘66 GTO article.

One of the best magazines from the 60’s era IMO.
SPEED and SUPERCAR.

Here is an article from the Oct. ‘66 issue showing a ‘66 GTO Convertible built with a Tri-Power engine backed with a 2 speed (ST300) automatic transmission.

Only 1759 units were produced in 1966.

Not many of these are still in their factory configuration.
I’m fortunate to own one that’s still intact.
